Ever have trouble getting out of bed? Like that snooze button? Yeah so do we. But um….what if it cost you, say $11 dollars every time you hit that button? Would $100 get you out of bed? And what if that money is going to your nemesis organization? Psychological researchers have discovered how to get people out of bed. It’s done. They did it. The SnuzNLuz Alarm Clock wirelessly connects to your bank account, and to your least favorite organization – and donates whatever amount you set, each time you hit the snooze button. Just be sure any bed guests know what’s happening – you could end up funding the presidential race on your own. $40.

If you have a bike, the Vizalert Helmet radar/Laser Jammer Alert is essentially a head-up-display that attaches to your helmet, wirelessly receiving signals from a laser jammer and radar detector. Six small LEDs indicate different warnings, and motion detector turns the unit on when you pickup your helmet. Peripheral vision will take care of the rest, and this should save you enough to get your money back. Think of it as a long-term investment. $200.

Looking for some peace and quiet in that home theater? Happen to have a massage room or yoga room in the home? You might be looking for this. The Cell Phone Signal Jammer simply blocks signals to cell phones within 30 feet. While we’ve heard of it being used on morning commute trains, libraries and restaurants – we presume private use is likely best. Blocks GSM signals 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz, but doesn’t block 3G – for that you’ll need this one which comes in a long range and short range model. Comes with battery adaptor, though unit is self contained. You can relax now. $166.

So your cell phone is great, but sometimes it’s nice to get back to the basics. Sparkfun’s Rotary Phone makes that incredibly easy. Slipping your SIM card into this phone will transform it into your phone. You dial out, you get incoming calls, all on your cell phone card – but with a real phone (without the whistles of the cell..but this does have bells that ring). It is even portable and runs for 4-5 days on a charge. So put this on your desk, or even on your center console in your car (we’d love to see someone talking on this in traffic) and put your cell away for a while. Get ahold of something more substantial, for only $199.95.

Alternative home energy is growing, and the Skystream Wind Turbine is now installed in some of the greenest homes in America, even the urban ones. Embrace that lower electric bill and grab one of your own. Unit is all inclusive, with built in inverter. It is quiet, clean, and doesn’t need a tornado to run. After the math, you do save money in the long run. Birds on the other hand…are a different story. Feed a pigeon lose a finger, install a rotating blade in the sky – you might lose a pigeon (don’t worry not the case). $9,000 includes installation.

Add art, and functionality to your living room with a vintage movie light. Repoductions have recently become more popular, but this is the real thing, and re-wired for actual use (probably want to downscale any bulb that exceeds a few hundred watts, unless you plan on opening a casting call in your living room soon). A great addition, with an equally great backstory. $2,100 from Sonrisa. BUY
