In 1872 Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr., grandson of the Clark in “Lewis and Clark,” came back from England with racing on his mind. He purchased what is now Churchill Downs, and hosted horse racing. Today over 150,000 will gather at Churchill Downs to watch “the most exciting two minutes in sports.” Bets can still be made online but to see the real thing, you’ll want tickets. Next year’s tickets are available; online via Churchill Downs for season and exclusive Derby tickets, and at Quint for stadium tickets. $20 for Infield to $7,000 for VIP.
