Adobe LightroomWe tend to find most Adobe products overpriced, but Lightroom is one that is well worth the money.  Clipspringer.com uses it almost daily (see photo’s for Maverick’s, The Palace, The Pub, and The Castle posts for examples).   Make photos shine, and images jump out.  If you’re a student or in education you can get it for only $99.  $300 for everyone else.  BUY

Legendary pioneer of grunge rock, Kurt Cobain, owned and used this guitar in his earliest days.  He rocked on this on demo tapes recorded in 1982 and 1985.  The bass comes with a photo of Kurt using it – but be prepared to hand over a pretty penny.  The guitar goes up for auction on November 24th and is expected to fetch around $60,000 – $80,000.  Might be a good addition as art on the wall.  If you appreciate music history – here’s your Christmas list.  $TBD BID

Warmest Parka in the WorldLooking for the warmest piece of clothing in the world?  Here it is.  The North Face’s Himalayan Suit is designed for Everest, K2…and anything close to them. It’s all down, in fact 800 fill goosedown on the body and 700 on the limbs.  Internal water bottle pockets, drop seat construction (wouldn’t want to have take the whole thing off when you have to go) and internal suspenders.  If you’re cold in this, you should probably either see a doctor or start hiking down.  $1,000 BUY

The Icon Air A5 is your personal plane.  It can land on air or water, the wings fold up, so you can actually use it on a trailer hitch store it in your driveway.  The team at Icon is top notch with many coming from Stanford Business School and the same engineering and design folks who came up with Virgin Galactic’s spaceship.  In fact the head of Ideo is on the Board of Directors of Icon.  Ideo is credited with some of the great designs including the iPod.  The A5 only requires a sport pilot’s license which can be obtained for about $3,000 here.  Of course, if you’re worried about safety – keep in mind that the A5 has it’s own parachute….for the entire plane.  Anything goes wrong just pull the interior latch and drift down to safety.  $139,000 BUY

The Mavericks Surf Contest in Half Moon Bay, California has become the most watched surf contest in the world.  Covered now by NBC Sports, the purse is impressive – and it should be for riding 50 foot waves.  Surfers around the world get 24 hour notice to be at the wave at the first horn.  Invite only for contestants, but the Official Mavericks Surf Company does send out two boats and sells tickets.  If you’re not on the boat you’re stuck two miles back on shore.  Photo above was taken from the boat with no zoom lens.  See this the right way and do it at least once.  Well worth the $300 ticket.  $300 BUY

The outdoors allow great pleasures – but few are as enjoyable as waking up in the wilderness and having a great cup of hot coffee.  Until now, espresso has been mediocre outside the confines of a high pressure machine.  Handpresso made it their life’s work to solve this pressing problem (pun intended).  They cleverly came up with a hand pumped portable espresso maker.  It looks like a bicycle pump with a yoyo on the end – but it puts out excellent quality espresso.  Use it anywhere in the world, anytime.  Just boil up some hot water, add it in,  put a pod in the holder, give it a few pumps and flick a switch for the creamy foam topped perfect shot of espresso. $120 BUY

Say goodbye to that orange carboard box of Baking Soda in the fridge.  Replace it with a solid block of white charcoal (though it looks like gray charcoal to us).  The Kuro Cube will absorb odors wherever you put it.  Even better – it stays active for years.  To “re-actviate” the charcoal all you have to do is leave the block in the sun for an hour.  Then put it back to work.  Simple enough – and no need to buy and replace every few months.  Worth a try at the very least. $45 BUY

On the RocksThough we don’t know if the theory behind this proves true in reality – a company called Nordic Rock is producing actual Swedish pure rock to be used as ice.  The idea is you freeze the rock for one hour, put it in your drink, and your drink will never be watered down.  The rock is pure, pollution free and eco-friendly.  Rinse, and re-use.  Set of 10 with leather pouch included.  $25  BUY
