New York’s BDDW takes a different approach to design. Everthing sold in the Soho store, is manufactured at the BDDW studio in Williamsburg. Modern, mid-century modern and more. To us, it’s just never seen good stuff. We especially like the Nixie Desk Clock. Comes in blackened bronze, natural bronze, or silvered bronze shown. Put it bedside, at your desk, or in the kitchen. Glowing time. $2400 BUY

Books you can’t reach? You likely need an 1890′s French staircase to get them. Cast iron with wrought iron ballistrades, brass finishing and stained oak steps. Better access to those first editions. Top-shelf gives you something to lean on while perusing, and a place to rest your drink. Your guess is as good as ours on how much it weighs. Shipping not included in the pricetag . . . $35,000. BUY

The Alcatraz Floor Lamp just looks great. Like the Vintage Movie Lights we’ve featured before, we’ve got a soft spot for this look. Put it next to your desk, put it in the corner of your dining room. Put it in the bathroom. The Bachelor Pad will shine. The shade comes in silver or black and the bulbs are actually easy to find. In fact you can grab a new 250 watt bulb here. And put a dimmer on the thing. Very cool and literally thousands of dollars cheaper than all the others we’ve seen. $320 BUY (Via BLTD)

Another classic phone comes out of the design world. This time the Swiss have done it – and though you may not need a land line (and may not even have one) if you do – hook this up to it and put it somewhere in the home office. Think of it as functional art. This was standard issue by the Dutch telephone company Bundespost. We’ve seen a few “telephone rooms” and assuming you don’t live on real estate pricing you out of devoting an entire room to a phone – go for it. $300 BUY

We think this is a particularly clever spacesaver that would happen to look great in any bachelor pad. Designed by Tove Adman, the wall chair is available in polished or matt aluminum and can even have it covered in reindeer skin as seen here. Put it in your closet as a place to sit down and put your shoes on. We’re all for it, and we think it’s a decent deal for how sturdy it is. $290 BUY

Hans Hilfiker was a railroad engineer and came up with this clock in the 1940′s. Today the Swiss railway Clock is used in more than 3,000 train stations throughout Europe. Brushed steel case, easy to read hands, and even featured in the New York Museum of Modern Art. We think you could set this once and forget about it until daylight savings. Few things are more enjoyable than a steam or sauna and the Brits have something great on their hands with this one. Beyond the physical and mental health benefits there are a small handful of companies in the world that have combined them into one. The best we’ve found yet is Ideal with the Tris model. The shower is incredible with 11 nozzles and 6 body jets on the side, flow control, foldable seat, and handheld spray. The sauna matches it with built in hygrometer, 2 kilograms of volcanic stones, bucket and ladle made from Iroko wood, and digital time and temperature programming. And then there is the steam room with an oil burner for aromatherapy, digital programming and the use of the shower to cool you off at the same time if needed. Good god, we want one. $20,000. BUY

Achille Castiglioni died six years ago – but his minamilist designs live on. His ashtray became famous after he and his brother teamed up to go full swing into design. It’s either this, or an Ashtray from Harry’s Bar in Venice – and this is a bit easier to get ahold of. A cigar once in a while isn’t a bad thing. Comes in large and small sizes. $105 BUY
