The 1939 Auto Union ‘D-Type’ has been found, and will be sold this Friday, August 14th. Was it lost? Yes. In the Spring of 1945, after winning multiple Grand Prixs, Soviet Forces in Germany loaded all known D-Types onto a train for the Soviet Union in hopes of reverse engineering this marvel of mechanics. So all known existing models, totaling only 13 cars, were loaded onto the train and transported to NAMI motor industry research institute in Moscow. During the research, four of the thirteen were completely dismantled and destroyed during analysis. The others were dismantled over the years for industry research by governments. One was even sent to a museum and eventually sold to Audi. Then in the 1950′s a Russian born American investigated the remaining nine cars, and found one intact chassis, #19. He successfully traveled Europe finding the remaining authentic parts and completed Chassis #19. So this Friday, if you have an estimated eight to ten million dollars between the couch cushions, head on over to Carmel. $8,000,000 – $10,000,000 BID

Only two Ferraris of this styling were ever made. Carrozzeria Rocco Motto of Torino styled this for Ferrari and must have done something right. This very vehicle was raced around the world. From Italy to Argentina, its long and storied career has been carefully recorded. Win after win, this car finally retired to a life of being looked at. In 1997 at the Louis Vuitton Automobiles Classiques Concours d’Elégance at Bagatelle, the Monaco Historic Grand Prix meeting, and in 2003 was the cover car for the Ferrari Club of America. The owner just passed away and now some very lucky person has the opportunity to listen to her purr and, if he wants, see what she’s still got under the hood. If you’re interested be in Gstaad, Switzerland on December 20th at the Palace Hotel, at 9:00 a.m. and ready to spend $2.5 – $3.5 Million. BUY

Nothing like running with bulls and surviving. In fact we highly recommend it to anyone under the age of 90. So here is the how to – including tricks, tips, accommodations, local knowledge etc. Click the “more” tab to get the whole scoop and prepare yourself for the fastest run of your life.

Accomodations – The Official Hotel accomodations can be seen here. Hotel Agoretta is worth it and a nice spot to come back to after getting a bit grimey on the streets.

The Run – For a map of where the bulls actually run, see this map. The red line labeled “Kukuxumusu” is the run. The most important thing to note in running, is that you do NOT want to be caught in the turn in the middle of the run. This is where the bulls often slam into the side gate as they take the turn too quickly. Nothing like being between a gate and a bull.

The Party – It is seven days of non-stop partying, but about ten minutes before the run, police take a stroll through the racetrack, to ensure no one under age (18) and no one too drunk to survive will be in the path of the bulls. In fact, a fairly accurate test to check your condition for running can be found here.

Tricks – You’ll want to arrive in Pamplona two full days before the first running. The San Fermin festival is the official name of the running, and it begins the day before the first run in a wine soaked celebration in the main square. The next morning at 8:00 a.m., is the first running of the bulls. The run usually takes about 2 and 1/2 minutes, but there are an average of about four hospitalizations and twenty first aid from that brief time. The bulls are run every morning for the next six morning. Though some say actaully touching the bull is good luck, the locals tend to be more respectful and just run. The run finishes in the bull fighting arena. Then you can catch your breath.
