We had to take a break from our near half year hiatus to bring you a spectacular feat of engineering.  Gullwing America is currently producing the 1954 Panamericana 300SL.  This is a near exact replica of the 1954 Mercedes Gullwing, but has modern features and a new 408 hp, V8 engine.  As they describe it, “A car that keeps the lines and charisma of the Gullwing, but with the reliability and comfort of a modern car.”  And while the real Gullwing, the one you should treat gently, will set you back $350,000 to over $1 mil, this one is $170,000 Euros – or $227,579.  BUY

Tom's Poe ShoeMaybe replace your slippers at home with these Tom Poe shoes.  Since inception in 2006, Tom’s has quickly become a popular company.  For every pair of shoes sold, the company donates a pair of shoes to a child in need.  And the shoes themselves couldn’t be simpler.  A soft leather insole and durable rubber bottom mean you see what you get.  The design is based on the Espadrille or Argentinian Alpargata where they have been worn for over 100 years.  So for $54 you’re helping a kid in need and getting decent shoes.  Grab the paper and your coffee, we like them.  $54 BUY

Pininfarina has designed incredible cars for almost eighty years.  You may have seen some of its designs.  Look out your window, there they are.  Volvo and Ford to Maserati, Ferrari, Jaguar and Rolls Royce.  All have employed the same one company to design cars – Pininfarina.  So when we heard that you, personally, can hire the company to custom build you a car, we were impressed to say the least.  The latest and greatest example of such a custom-build, is the Hyperion.  Roland Hall, a Rolls-Royce collector, liked cars from the 1930s, so he asked Pininfarina to design him something that evoked that style, but with today’s power and safety.  Roland also liked Chris-Craft type boats, so boat builders made a convertible cover concealer out of the very same material.  Why not.  Roland, we suspect, likes his new car.  $CUSTOM BUY

On February 7th this Bugatti type 57S will be actioned in Paris.  The car is expected to go for $5 million.  To put that in perspective, that is how much 16 new Lamborghini Gallardo’s would set you back.  Sixteen.  The odometer on this Bugatti reads just 26,284.  This car has a fairly interesting history.  To say it is rare, might be putting it lightly – the car was custom ordered by the first President of the British Racing Driver’s Club.  The “S” stands for surbaissé – french for “lowered.”  The world will be watching, as it expected to fetch more than any car in history.  The record was set last May by this car, which went for over $10 million.  The expected price was $750,000.  Imagine where that puts this Bugatti.  Go nuts….for a pretty penny.  $TBD BUY

Update:  Sold for $4.52 million.  A steal?  TBD.

Salvatore Ferragamo was the 11th of 14 children.  Before moving from Italy to Hollywood in the early 1900s, he actually worked at a cowboy boot factory in Boston.  To make his shoes more comfortable he studied anatomy at USC.  Shortly thereafter he founded his company in Florence.  These classic Croc Oxfords are built to last and have it all.  Enjoy. $2,100 BUY

Adrien Philippe invented the self-winding feature for watches based on hand movement.  So when he teamed up with Swiss pocket watch maker Antoni Patek in 1845, good things were bound to happen.  They probably couldn’t have guess that nine months ago one of their pocket watches would be sold for a world record $11 million.  Popes, Kings, and more – you name it, they’ve all worn and still wear Patek Philippes.  Identified by model number, the 5098P was modeled after the 1925 model.  Platinum cased, the underbelly exposes the machine through a sapphire-crystal window.  Gold dial, Aligator band – and best of all, water resistant to 30 meters. A classic. $45,000 BUY
