The ancient Greeks are the first recorded in history to begin tossing coins as far as they could. The Romans came along and updated the game by giving it a target. Today, in the south of France, Petanque is played – with a chilled glass of wine in hand. Easy to play, simply toss the small ball about 35 yards on clay or grass. Then alternate trying to toss the big balls as close to the small one as possible. You can knock others out – and closest gets 1 point. If you have two closest you get 2 points. More on the rules here. Easy enough, and still enjoyed after thousands of years. Polished alloy set of six, comes with canvas carrying case. $50 BUY
