To get out of our rut of showcasing items that cost and arm and a leg, how about “Free”?  The PBS Video Beta site is phenomenal and it yes it is free.  The site includes full episodes of Frontline, Nova and even Academy Award nominated documentaries.  And of course, “Antiques Roadshow” does make a cameo.  Commercial free programs that are both educational and entertaining, we like it.  $0 CLICK

For a change, we’re highlighting something free. Who doesn’t like free? Mandolux is an online desktop art resource that we think is worthy of mentioning. The site offers artistic photographs as backgrounds for computers – and even offers them split for multiple monitors if you have them. All common screen sizes are below each image. You can even shrink them down for iPhone backgrounds, if you’re graphically inclined. Head on over and click “previous” to go through all prior art. $0. CLICK

Nova just aired “The Car of the Future” on Tuesday, a special on where autos are headed and how we’re getting there. It is hosted by Car Talk’s Click and Clack and follows them as they search for clean, fuel efficient vehicles. You can order the DVD for $25 or even better, watch the entire program with no commercials, free at Nova’s site. WATCH/ORDER
